my blackness
My blackness runs deeper than ocean trenches.
My blackness beats like shametic drums.
My blankness is defiant.
It never runs.
My blackness is symbolic like kemitic signs.
My blackness is brilliant.
My blackness is resilient.
My blackness.
My blackness is the very epicenter for passion.
My blackness exudes pride.
My blackness is conciousness personified.
My blackness is strength....amplified.
My blackness is Afrodsiatic.
My blackness is melenated magic.
My blackness is all.
My blackness is everything that ever was and everything that shall be.
My blackness is magnificent.
My blackness is the universe.
My blackness is me.

Labled
You want to look fly.
You want to look fresh.
You want the world to know you love to dress in excess.
You want to stay dipped in designer.
You want be the best you that you can afford.
(or even if you can't afford it)
Name brands only.
You don't feel like a king/ queen if all of your labels don't match and say the exact same thing.
You want to color c-oooooordinate.
You want to match all the way down to the socks.
You want to hear those brand new bags crumpling.
You want to hear the sound the tags make when they pop.
It's your money.
It's your time.
You can spend both of them any way you wish.
I just want to know a few things.
How far will you go to obtain it?
How many family functions will miss out on to peruse those brands?
How many entire evenings will you stay up clocking?
How strange will you act for some change?
Where do you draw the line?
Can you look at yourself in the mirror after you cash out?
Are your designer labels the only thing you want your cash to be about?
Do feel good about yourself even if your not freshly pressed?
Will everyone in your circle still be there for you if didn't stay fresh to death?
Would they still respect you if you didn't wear designer?
Do you do it for you or are you trying to impress?
It's your money.
It's your time.
You can spend both of them any way that you wish.
I just wanted to know how far you would go.
How much integrity are you willing to sacrifice j in order to look high priced.
If those labels bring you that much joy then please by all means do you.
I just hope that those labels don't define you.

Soulsational
I'm young but I'm an old soul.
I love all types of music but I have an affinity for that old soul.
As I'm listening to those smooth groves I feel like I'm going back in time.
So I close my eyes so that I can picture the melody of the sultry pioneers of the Motown sound.
James brown soul brotha number 1 getting down.
Marvin Gaye let know what's going on.
The Jackson five taught me my ABC's.
Smokey Robinson was smooth but wasn't afraid to cry the tears of a clown while cruising the scene.
Stevie Wonder's talent would never bore you.
There wasn't a Mountain high enough to stop MS Diana Ross.
Gladness Knight made you want be on the platform waiting to see her before she left on that midnight train to Georgia.
The quality of the music back then was so impactful.
You hear the passion in every note being sang.
You could feel the intensity from all instruments being played.
Those artist made you forget your troubles and remind you about the splendors of life.
The Motown sound really stirred the soul.
I guess that's why they call it soul music.
They tore down social barriers and changed the world with their art form.
Artist from golden era of Motown will forever be cherished.
Each individual singer and each singing group ld a special place in someone's heart.
They were motivational.
They were sensational.
If I had to call their style anything.... I'd call it soulsatioanl

The sun is up.
I'm the type of person that takes the time to appreciate the small things in life.
In this life it's a must.
No matter how bad my day is going I just remember that the sun up.
The sun doesn't actually reside in the sky.
The sun is in outer space.
Yet some how when I look up on a clear day I feel it's rays on my face.
The sun stays up.
I could be laying in hospital bed paralyzed but the sun would still rise.
I could be in my death bed about to draw my last breath.
The sun would still rise
I could be down and destitute.
I could be scavenging in dumpsters for my next meal.
The sun still would manage to be up.
No matter what happens in the world the sun will always rise.
I always keep that nugget tucked in the back of my mind.
The sun is in me.
If it can always manage to rise then so can I.

Gramsta
You so tough.
You so bad.
You pose with weapons that have extended clips but you can't buy your new born a decent pair of kicks.
You so tough.
You so bad.
You flash gang signs and yet nobody from the turf has ever heard of you.
You so tough.
You so bad.
You got top shelf bottles in motel express room.
You so tough.
You so bad.
You so tough.
You so bad.
You got table full of product, money, and the captions reads trap or die.
You so tough.
You so bad.
Let me ask you few a questions?
When was the last time that you actually been in fight?
When was the last time you did anything for your community or your kids?
Who exactly are tying to impress or intimidate?
Who are you trying to fines?
Does your real life match up to the filtered pics you have posted?
What's your purpose for logging on?
Why do you want to show the world this?
Is your instagram presence the truth or packed full of lies?
If it was the truth and not lies you wouldn't bother posting incriminating pictures like that because every real one knows.
Killahs move in silence and gangstas don't advertise.
I'm not a tuff guy or know -it- all.
I'm just a poet( novice poet at that) with a keen eye and weak stomach for suka ish.
If your really about that life...."ACT LIKE IT"
Stop telling on yourself.

taping my pen
I'm just setting back tapping my pen.
I tap my pen and let it flow.
I don't interfere with rhythm.
I don't stifle or try to control vibration.
I just tap.
I tap.
It writes.
Sometimes when I tap it cuts me.
Sometimes when I tap it cuts someone else.
I still tap.
When I tap I never know what will come out until it does.
My pen does the writing.
I just tap it.

What do you know about it
Its easy to sit back, observe, and comment on another person's situation without any hesitation.
It's real easy.
It's real easy to tell them all the motivational cliché's.
Tell them to keep a stiff upper lip .
Stay strong.
Keep on keeping on.
Pray.
Stay positive.
Easy right?
Whole time not knowing what's keeping them up at night.
What's eating away at their soul.
Not fully being aware of just how much physical pain and strain their ailment puts them though and takes them through.
Not so easy now is it.
Tell a homeless person this to shall pass while their out begging for table scraps.
Its easy to tell a person in the financial red that their current situation isn't their final destination .
What do you really know?
How could possibly understand?
How could you relate?
What qualifies you to tell them its never too late?
Sometimes the best advice is a silent sentiment.
A kind gesture can not be measured.
Actions speak louder than words.
It's its okay to sympathize with their plight.
Show them instead telling them it will be alright.
