closer than you think

You say you want what they have.

Your questioning why  it hasn't happened for you yet.

Why can't you be like everyone else?

Easy answer.

Your not everyone else.

Your unique in this world.

If you explained it to them they still wouldn't understand it.

Keep believing.

The pieces are coming together for you.

They might not fall in place the way you planned it or you want them to.

But it is coming.

You just wait.

The big question is.

When it comes.

Are ready to accept your fate?

You too

You can't be in two places at once.

You can't put out a fire if you have no water to douse the flames.

Every remedy does not call for extremities .

You need be conscious of that.

You do and you do.

You give and you give.

You love and you love.

You can do anything but not everything.

You are not expendable.

You can't bare everyone's cross.

You can't light the way if your the one that's feeling lost.

Don't loose yourself trying to help someone discover themselves.

You matter.

You require time too.

Never stop being kind.

Never stop extending

Never stop giving the world your all.

Never stop being true.

Never stop being you.

Just make sure you remember to celebrate yourself at all times.

People come and go but another you is hard to find.

kindered spirit.

You can feel my goodness.

Some how just know.

How solid I am.

How reasonable I can be.

How real I keep it.

You can just tell when I'm on one.

I just have that familiar face.

Instantly drown to me.

Usually soft spoken but when I do speak up it resonates.

I make you not want to hesitate to include me your space.

Deep in thought.

Looking but lost.

You know me even if not properly introduced.

That's just me.

That's my charm.

I haven't been here before.

Don't be alarmed.

We never met.

Yet  you know me.

All on me.

I'm not angry.

I'm just done.

I'm done listing to the excuses.

I'm done listing to the lies.

I'm done pretending you didn't notice me when I walk by.

I'm done believing the phony  gestures of concern.

I'm done with all things negative and toxic.

I'm done trying to see something that was never there in the first place.

I'm done.

I'm done giving away my time so freely.

I'm done being around people that don't build me up.

I'm done being so clingy.

I'm done being so needy.

I'm done trying to hold on to people and situations that want leave.

I'm done with not adapting to change.

I'm done.

I can't say it's not you. It's me.
You see, It is you. That's why I've changed me.

I'm not angry with you.

I'm just done neglecting me.

Compass

I'm reaching for the stars.

I'm reaching for hope in this desolate place.

I'm trying to put a smile on a grim face.

It's hard to see the light sometimes.

Pitch black darkness can make you nearly go blind.

I try to keep my inner torch lit so I can navigate through the mist.

I try to keep my head up so I don't  drown in the abyss.

Sometimes it seems like theirs no bottom to the murky depths of sorrow.

Then I still my nerves and remember.... Their always tomorrow.

I remeber when it was good.

I like the new artist.

I like the new hip hop.

I like the new hype.

I like the new bop.

I mean it's good.

I'm  mean it's Okay.

It's dope.

But it just don't compare to how it was back in the day.

I remember the first time I heard it growing up.

I had artist plastered on my wall like  wall paper.

I miss the mixing.

The scratching.

The breakbeats.

I miss the word play.

The similes .

The metaphors.

The delivery.

The adlibs.

The timing.

The punchlines.

The cadences.

Being up all night debating  over who the greatest is.

I would get  a rush from peeling back the cellophane off a vinyl , cassette tape  or a CD

You could hear the artist thought process and passion in every bar.

Their energy would go all through me.

Don't get me wrong.

Some of the new guys move me.

Maybe I'm a dinosaur.

Maybe I'm being stubborn in my ways.

I can't help it.

It's just not like back in the day.

Respect your elders.

Respect your elders.

Those eyes have seen much.

Those hands have touched much.

That grey symbolizes wisdom.

They ache because they had to fight many battles.

Their not out of touch with times.

It's all rerun to them.

They may  not be tech savvy .

They may not be up  to speed on the latest trends.

They may  move at slower pace.

One thing for certain about them is that  you can learn a lot from them simply by looking at their face.

Honor them.

Take your time to show them you care.

Go out of  your way to make their day.

And remember You'll be their age one day.
