the got cha gottcha

Everything in life comes at a price.

Theirs always a catch -22.

However no one ever takes the time to look for that fine print.
that implied meaning.
terms and conditions.

the ole gotcha got cha.

You buy a brand new house and everything seems fine. then you notice the dividing line.

You notice your house is setting on land you don't "actually" own.

got cha got cha

You finally find the love of your life but none of your or your family seem to like.

In the beginning they are your peak, summit, and plateau. You want to hold them close.

You never want to let them go.

Then the lies start along with the fights.

Too much take.

 Not enough give.

Then you realize that this is no way to live.
You want out but have invested "so" much.

You don't want to go through all the trouble of conditioning your mind and body to adapt to a new persons touch.

Now your stuck.

got cha got cha.

You go school to acquire some new knowledge.

You study and study. You read and read.

Then its graduation time.... you have learned all you need.

The first year out of school you feel like your living the dream.

Your gainfully employed in your field of study.

Your now  living on life  experiences no longer textbook facts or hypothetical stats.

However, your not earning nearly the amount of what you would need to pay your student loans back.

 got cha got cha.

Your a world class entertainer now. Your world renowned and critically acclaimed. You are highly skilled at your craft.

You worked diligently to get where your at.

You sacrificed sleep and disciplined yourself to do away with internal distractions.

You didn't let anything stand in the way of perusing your dream.

You've made it now.

So it would seem.

How ever nobody every told you about all the jealousy, lies and deceit that came with it.

All the bullets that would aimed toward the heart with a loved one standing behind the cross hairs taking aim and ready to pull the trigger.

They spread rumors and lead the charge on smear campaigns to tarnish your name.

They think you owe them something more than childhood memories or your family's  surname

got cha. got cha.

Everything in life comes with this price.
You may feel as though you didn't sign up or deserve to be stuck in that continuous rut.

Don't let the got cha got cha  break your spirit.

Acknowledge.

Embrace it.

Don't let it harden your heart or loose faith in humanity.

What ever you decide to do  don't fear it.

Be sure to keep in mind that with every level comes a new devil.

That's life's unwritten quid pro quo.

Lesson learned.

Now you know

bypass

If you don't love her then leave her alone.

Don't make promises to her you know you don't  intend on keeping.

Don't  sit up in her loved one's faces and proudly profess feelings that you don't actually feel for her.

Don't take an oath to keep it real with her.
Don't waste her time.
Save your money and stop buying those lavish gifts.
Stop facetimetiming.
Stop texting and sexting.
Your not playing to win.
Your just playing.
If your just playing the game then explain the rules to her.
If don't love leave her.
Don't stay and mistreat her.
If your that bored get a hobby.
Think of something new you can do for a cheap laugh.
People are real... not toys.
If you know your not for real.

bypass.

crazy days

You  your have goods
You have bad days.
Sometimes you can't even classify what a day is.
Stuck in a vortex of disillusion.
wrapped in blanket of anxiety.
Sometimes the deepest of breaths don't help you catch your breath.
You can't create a quite space because the voices in your head are too loud.
Pray about it.
Seek therapy.
meditate.
No. Rx's are defiantly answer.
Everyone's  such an expert.
Everyone wants to just how you hurt.
So quick to call you sick.
crazy.
mentally ill.
All theses labels just because on some days your not quite sure how to feel.
You know what's  even crazier than the situation going on in head.
The red flags other people see before you do.
You never once entrained the notion of hurting yourself or someone else.
Your just hurting.
Everyone has things they need to work on.
Embrace yourself.
Study yourself.
Know yourself.
 Love yourself.
Don't be afraid to conquer yourself by yourself.

drip drop

Drip
drop.
Drip.
drop..
That's the sound most trickles of water makes.
The human body is 90% water.
Water is refreshing.
Water is invigorating.
Water is abundant.
Water is everywhere.

Too much of it can be devastating.
Too little of it can be deadly.

Drip.
drop.

Close your eyes and imagine being surrounded  by it and can't drink a drop of it.
Not being able to bathe in it.
Not being able to wade in it on a sweltering day.
Drip.
drop.
Drip.
drop.
Close your eyes again and imagine a whole city without any.
It's not too hard.
Its far away.
It's not in different country.
If you live in the Midwest its in your own backyard.

Drip
drop.
         drop.

     drip.

Where is it?
 A little  town called flint.

R-E-S- P- E- C- T

R-E- S- P- E- C- T
After you hear those words spelled out.
There was no doubt who you must be talking about.
MS. Aretha Franklin
 Queen of soul.
She let em all know.
A natural woman through and through and let the world know how you have to approach one.
She let her all her sisters know how to become one and no matter what they currently are now or have been in life that they were still a flower.
I could remember that brazen sultry voice slashing the airwaves with her truth.

Today her sound would be referred to as classic, AM gold, or an oldie but a goodie.
Hell. The sistah was just plain ole good.
She was that voice you needed to hear even if you didn't feel much like listening.

Her voice would penetrate and empower ones soul.
She gave so  much and asked for so little.
She was truly worthy of respect.
MS Aretha Franklin.

Thank you.

Dear adversity

Dear adversity,

I'm writting you just to say thank you.

Thank for all my struggles.

Thank you for knocking me down so many times.

Thank you for showing me all the people I can actually count on when times get hard.

Thank you for tapping me on my shoulders when I think I've turned a major corner.

Thank you for showing me just how much more work I have to do.

Thank you.

Thank you for all the obsticles in my path.

Thank you for this burdomsone load I have to bear all alone.

Thank you for applying more pressure on me when I feel I've reached my breaking point.

Thank you for endowing me with titanium skin.

Thank you for forcing me to look deep within.

Thank you for showing me that complaining changes nothing.
Thank you for every door that ever slammed shut in my face.
Thank  you for showing me just how unfair and cruel life can be.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to prove you wrong over and over again.

Thank you for letting me see you for what you truly are.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Without you I would not have the motivation to not allow my heart to harden.
I don't have the insatiable need to win, but because of you I now have the courage to fail.

Thank you adversity.

Signed,
a poet.

BE MINDFUL

People ask me all the time why are you so quiet.
I never know quite how to answer them.
In this new generation we live in we give everything a clinical sounding name to describe something or someone.
Quiet people like me used to be described as weird.
Now people say introvert.
I guess I'm an introvert by todays standards.
I think I'm old fashioned in a sense, because my grandmother(god rest her soul) used to call quiet people mindful.
I think that's what's wrong today.
There are not enough mindful people in the world.
Before I open my mouth ( or type as it were) I'm mindful.
I'm mindful before I complain about going to work when there is someone out there in desperate need of a job.
I'm mindful about complaining about my day when there is some one some where drawing their last breath.
I'm mindful before I speak foul words when someone irritates me.( sometimes one or nine might slip)
They might just want my attention that badly.
I try my best be mindful before calling a woman  out her name because of how she dresses or what type of man she's attracted to.(she may have been touched at an early age)
I'm mindful about calling someone stupid just because I don't understand their   logic.
One has to be mindful in these times we live in.
If people were more mindful we'd have more progress,  and less stress.
I'm not perfect by any means.
Sometimes I do go all the way off.
When I do though......I'm mindful about it.
😉
